They should have made a Kurt Cobain movie over Tupac, Kurt was way more of an artist and a genius than Tupac. Also he played REAL music.

I heard there was already a Cobain movie in the works? May just have been a rumour though... leave it to hollywood to botch it up, i doubt any director could make a film that would do the man justice. Anyway, i agree that Kurt Cobain definatly had a bigger effect on music and people then Tupac.

he may have had a bigger effect on music, but tupac was about 20 times a better song writer...

Yea funny, all Tupac wrote about was banging chicks, shooting people, doing drugs, and making money(though i will agree he is better than most rappers, and some of his writing about growing up in "the Hood" is powerful stuff).

Kurt was the greatest song writer since Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and Eddie Vedder are the 2 best song writers of the 90's. Nirvana song come from the soul of a tortured poet, a guy who just wanted to play music and rock out, and it turned into him being the voice of a gneration. Can you even imagine how it would feel to be at one moment just rocking out and writing songs and having fun. Then being hounded by the press, magizines and people who dont deserve to be in his busness.

Just look at the song "Serve The Servents" About his father who he hated since hwe was a boy, because of his fathers lie(he said he would never get remarried after Kurts mother divorced him) and this song was to forgive him for all the bad things that Kurt said about him, that Kurt ment about him.

Look at the songs "About a Girl"(A song written about his girlfriend Tracy) "Lithium"(A song about expeiencing a Nervous breakdown) "Sappy" (A song about God) "Papercuts" (A song about a family Kurt knew who used to lock there children in the attic)

Dont even say a rapper is a better song writer than a REAL musician.

Whatever Jake.

I mean how can you say all Tupac wrote about was "banging chicks, shooting people, doing drugs & making money"??
I mean come on if that was the case would he off sold as many records as he has, would he have over 14 documentries about him? Would he have over 12 books written about him? And I guess the most obvious one would Harvard University be doing a course on "The Work Of Tupac Shakur" not too mention another 4 major universities in the USA offering courses on the man.
Tupac was the greatest hip hop artist ever, he was also the most important & significant artist to emerge from the 1990's.

also, at least tupac's music wasn't depressing... i mean the guy has had a very big impact on the music industry(Kurt cobain) but only cuz he sold records, was a good song writer and shot himself... people have different opinions in terms of who was a better song writer but in this case it all depends on what u listen to... (jake V1) listens to nirvana; and Makaveli listens to tupac... i think that the two guys were especially good song writers for there type of music... now to say that tupac was the greatest hip-hop artist ever, that i think is a title held by no1 cuz there have been sooo many good hip-hop artists.... now as for nirvana, they were THE BAND in their line of music. tupac grew up in the projects... his family had no money... they basically were gonna get evicted if some1 didn't do somethin', so tupac started sellin' drugs... kurt never had to deal with that... most of tupacs music came from his heart, kurt's came from his head... tupac wrote about things he had to deal with in life and kurt wrote about things that had an underlying meaning.... that is what set's these to people apart... you can't compare the two in terms of writing ability because they were in two completely different genre's of music...

END OF STORY

get back on topic...

Most of Rap is about just that, and plenty of Rappers sell many many records. And at a time in my life i loved Rap and loved Tupacs music.

I will leave the arguement with an agreement that you cant compare there writing cause they made two different genres

While they were different in ways they were the same, Both had bad childhood(Yes Swanton Kurt had a childhood just as bad as Tupac, i would sit there and name many simularitys but i want to end this) Both had pretty bad adulthoods too(Tupacs gang rivalries and Kurts Heroin Addiction) But they were two different genres of music and they both prolly set the standard for music today, and the standard today is just a watered down version of what they were. So as too say who is the better artist, i would rather agree to just say they were both signifigant in there Genres
